Installation
Most pool owners complete installation in 1-2 hours without a tradesperson.
- Position pump below water level on a level surface within 3m of pool
- Connect 50mm quick-connect unions to existing plumbing
- Plug into outdoor power outlet (connect to timer if desired)
- Prime pump, check for leaks, and test operation
You will need: 50mm PVC pipe and fittings (if replacing old pump), Teflon tape or thread sealant, basic tools, and an outdoor power outlet.
Maintenance
Weekly (5 minutes): Check and empty strainer basket, inspect for leaks, listen for unusual noises.
Monthly (10 minutes): Clean strainer basket thoroughly, check water level, inspect unions and seals.
Annual (30 minutes): Inspect and lubricate o-rings and seals, check motor ventilation, test timer operation.
Important: Never run the pump dry - always ensure pool water level is above the skimmer. Running dry can damage the seal and void the warranty.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Will this pump work with my existing filter and plumbing?
A: Yes, if you have 50mm (2") plumbing. The included quick-connect unions make it easy to connect to standard pool plumbing. If you have 40mm plumbing, you'll need reducer fittings available at hardware stores.
Q: Do I need an electrician to install this pump?
A: No - the pump comes with a standard NZ plug. Simply plug into any outdoor power outlet. No hardwiring required.
Q: How quiet is under 65 dB?
A: About the same volume as normal conversation or background music. You can comfortably sit 3-5 metres away and barely notice it running.
Q: Can I use this with a salt chlorinator?
A: Yes - this pump delivers the flow rate needed for optimal chlorine generation. Installing with a compatible chlorinator also extends your warranty to 4 years.
Q: Is delivery really free?
A: Yes - free delivery to all NZ addresses, North and South Island. Ships within 2-3 business days with tracking provided.
Q: How long will this pump last?
A: With proper maintenance, expect 10-15 years of reliable service. The fully serviceable design means you can replace any worn part rather than buying a whole new pump.
Q: Can I run this pump 24/7?
A: Yes - the continuous-duty motor is designed for 24/7 operation. Most pools only need 6-8 hours of circulation per day, so use a timer to optimise energy usage.
