Application Instructions
- Calculate your dosage using the table above or contact us for exact requirements
- Test your water - check current pH and alkalinity levels before adding minerals
- Pour minerals directly into the pool around the perimeter while the pump is running
- Run your pool pump for at least 24 hours to ensure complete dissolution
- Test after 24 hours - target salinity is 4,000-4,500 ppm, adjust as needed
- Maintain chemistry - keep pH 7.2-7.6, free chlorine 1-3 ppm, alkalinity 80-120 ppm
Maintenance Top-Ups
MagnaPool minerals are not consumed like chlorine. They are only lost through backwashing, splash-out, overflow, vacuum-to-waste, and drain/refill. Top-up requirements vary based on water loss and dilution. Always test your mineral level before adding more.
Free in-store water testing available. Bring a water sample to our Albany warehouse and we'll test your MagnaPool mineral levels and provide personalised dosage recommendations at no charge.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I use MagnaPool Minerals in my standard salt chlorinator?
A: MagnaPool Minerals are engineered specifically for the MagnaPool Hydroxinator system for optimal performance. Some pool owners do use them with standard chlorinators to enjoy the softer water and magnesium benefits. Contact us to discuss your specific setup before ordering.
Q: How is MagnaPool different from regular pool salt?
A: MagnaPool uses a proprietary blend of 70% potassium chloride and 30% magnesium chloride - it is 100% sodium-free. Standard pool salt is 100% sodium chloride. The result is softer, more premium-feeling water that is gentler on skin and equipment.
Q: Is MagnaPool chlorine-free?
A: No - the MagnaPool Hydroxinator uses electrolysis to generate active chlorine from the mineral blend, similar to how salt chlorinators work. The difference is the source minerals and the premium water feel.
Q: How many bags do I need for my pool?
A: Use the dosage table above. For startup: Pool volume (L) ÷ 1,667 = number of 10kg bags. For example, a 30,000L pool needs 18 bags (180kg) at startup. Contact us for exact calculations.
Q: How often do I need to add minerals?
A: Minerals are only lost through backwashing, splash-out, overflow, and dilution. After your initial startup dose, you will only need occasional top-ups based on testing - not regular additions like chlorine.
Q: What is the target mineral level?
A: Ideal operating salinity for MagnaPool is 4,000-4,500 ppm. We can test this for you free in-store at our Albany warehouse.
Q: Do you offer a bulk supply option?
A: Yes - see our MagnaPool Minerals 200kg bulk pack (20 x 10kg bags) for better value on large quantities.
