AstralPool Mineral Guard is a secondary pool sanitiser that works alongside chlorine or a saltwater chlorinator. Using Nature2 technology, it releases silver and copper ions to support bacteria and algae control as part of your regular pool care routine.

Compatibility and installation
Use with a chlorine-based sanitation system, including a saltwater chlorinator. Do not use with bromine or bromide-based products, PHMB/biguanides, copper-based algaecides or soda ash. Check existing treatments before installation.
A qualified pool equipment professional must install the unit on the return plumbing after the filter and before the chlorinator cell or chemical dosing point, following the manufacturer's full instructions. Your pool must be clean and chemically balanced before commissioning.
New cartridges require the manufacturer's chlorine activation procedure. Continue regular filtration, testing and water balancing. Mineral Guard does not replace your primary sanitiser or pool filter.
Frequently asked questions
Can I stop using chlorine?
No. Mineral Guard needs chlorine, whether added directly or produced by a saltwater chlorinator. The manufacturer cites an Australian minimum residual of 1 ppm; this is not a universal target for every NZ pool. Follow the product instructions and advice appropriate to your pool conditions.
How often does the cartridge need replacing?
The replacement guide specifies six months or one season, whichever is shorter. The housing stays in place when the cartridge is changed.
Is this the same as adding magnesium pool minerals?
No. This is a plumbed-in silver and copper mineral treatment, not a bag of magnesium minerals or pool salt.
What warranty applies?
AstralPool two-year warranty on the main vessel and six months on replacement cartridges, subject to its warranty terms. Cartridge life and warranty cover are separate considerations.
