Over-chlorinated your pool? It happens to everyone - a heavy dose after a storm, a miscalculation, or a chlorine spike after shocking. Zodiac Chlorine Remover brings your chlorine level back into the safe range quickly and safely, so you can get back in the water without waiting days for levels to drop naturally.

Fast-acting, easy to dose, and designed for swimming pools. Also useful for neutralising chlorine before servicing equipment or draining.

Product Specifications

Brand Zodiac
Size 500g
Active Ingredient Sodium thiosulphate
Suitable For Swimming pools
Dosage Rate 10g per 10,000L reduces chlorine by 1 ppm
500g Treats Up to 50,000L (reduces by 1 ppm)
Form Granular - dissolve before adding
Re-test After 2 hours with pump running

How to Use

  1. Test your chlorine level first using test strips to determine how much reduction is needed
  2. Calculate your dose: 10g per 10,000L of water reduces chlorine by 1 ppm. For a 50,000L pool needing a 2 ppm reduction, use 100g.
  3. Dissolve in a bucket of pool water before adding - never add granules directly to the pool
  4. Add to the pool with the pump running, distributing evenly around the perimeter
  5. Run pump and filter for at least 2 hours
  6. Re-test chlorine levels and repeat if necessary

Target Chlorine Range: 1-3 ppm for swimming pools. Use Zodiac Chlorine Remover to bring levels down to the safe range before swimming.

Dosage Guide

Pool Size Reduce by 1 ppm Reduce by 2 ppm Reduce by 3 ppm
30,000L (small pool) 30g 60g 90g
50,000L (medium pool) 50g 100g 150g
80,000L (large pool) 80g 160g 240g

Important: Always re-test after 2 hours and add more if needed. Do not overdose - adding too much can deplete chlorine below safe levels, leaving the water unsanitised.

When to Use Chlorine Remover

  • After over-shocking. Chlorine spike too high to swim safely.
  • Sensitive swimmers. Reduce to lower end of range for children or sensitive skin.
  • Before equipment service or drain. Neutralise chlorine before working on pool equipment.
  • After heavy rain. If you've added extra chlorine and levels are now too high.
  • New fill or top-up. If source water has been over-treated.

Safety and Storage

  • Keep out of reach of children
  • Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight
  • Do not mix with other chemicals
  • Dissolve in water before adding to pool - never add directly
  • Wash hands after handling
  • Refer to product label for full safety information

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How quickly does Zodiac Chlorine Remover work?
A: It acts quickly once dissolved and added to the water. Run your pump and filter for 2 hours then re-test. Most situations are resolved within one treatment.

Q: Can I use this in a spa pool?
A: This product is designed for swimming pools. Spa pools are typically 1,000-2,000L, which means the required dose would be less than 1g - too small to measure accurately and easy to overdose. For spa chlorine management, we recommend diluting by topping up with fresh water or allowing levels to drop naturally with the cover off. Contact us if you need advice.

Q: What if I add too much?
A: Adding too much chlorine remover will deplete your chlorine below safe levels, leaving the water unsanitised. Always dose conservatively, re-test after 2 hours, and add more only if needed.

Q: What is the active ingredient?
A: Sodium thiosulphate - a well-established, safe chlorine neutraliser used in pools worldwide.

Q: Will it affect my pH or alkalinity?
A: Sodium thiosulphate can have a minor effect on pH. Re-test all parameters after use and adjust if needed.

Q: How do I know how much chlorine I need to remove?
A: Test your water first with test strips to get your current chlorine reading, then calculate the difference between your current level and your target level. Use the dosage table above.

Q: Is this product covered by a warranty?
A: Yes, this product is backed by a manufacturer warranty. For warranty queries, contact us.
